C&A measures up to a tall order
Mainetti Group are one of the recognised world leaders in the manufacture of hangers for the garment trade. When their Jedburgh, Scotland plant needed a more efficient method for determining the levels of plastic pellets stored in their silos, C&A were recommended by Vega Control Ltd to undertake the design and installation of guided-microwave level detection into the nine, 18metre tall silos on Mainetti’s site.
Over two weeks, our highly skilled team used specialist access equipment to adapt each tank top to accept the new level detection system, before installing the level detectors. Additionally, C&A carried out the field wiring back to the on-site server and also commissioned the installation.
Previously, when the silos’ stock needed replenishing a trained person with safety harness had to climb to the top of each silo and take a manual measurement, sometimes in adverse weather conditions. With the new system, Mainetti’s accounts, procurement and supplier have instant access to the quantity of product available for production; allowing deliveries to be automated and ensuring that the production lines never run out of the necessary materials.
