RAF Wittering

C&A repairs RAF pumping station

RAF Wittering is one of the Royal Air Force’s oldest flying stations and has played a prominent part in the development of air power since 1916. The base has been the home of the Harrier since 1969, and top gun pilots from RAF Wittering have played a major role in all recent conflicts from the Falklands and the Balkans to both wars in the Gulf.

Located in Cambridgeshire, it is also host to a variety of other important units, is the home of the A4 expeditionary logistics hub, and maintains an active airfield in support of Joint Force Harrier.

When the main pumping station at the base reached a point of failure that resulted in the use of road tankers being the only solution to dispose of the site’s sewage, Costain called upon the services of C&A Pumps.

Working some 180 miles from our base, C&A carried out the mechanical & civil works required to return the crippled pumping station back to operation. including manufacturing and installing new access covers.
